Sensei Nicole Chircop started practicing JKA Shotokan Karate at the age of 9 in 2007. She aspired to be like her father (Sensei Dario Chircop) and so she followed his steps and teaching. Throughout her years of training, she attended many international Gasshukus around Europe to acquire in depth knowledge from high ranking karate instructors.
At 18 years of age in October 2015 she was awarded her Shodan 1st Dan Black Belt, by Sensei Ohta (7th Dan – Chief Instructor JKA England) and by Sensei Roy Tomlin MBE (6th Dan JKA). In May 2018, she was awarded her Nidan 2nd Dan Black Belt, at 20 years old. She was graded by Sensei Ohta (7th Dan JKA Approved – Chief Instructor JKA England), by Sensei Larsen (7th Dan JKA Approved – Chief Instructor JKA Norway) and by other high ranking officials in the JKA England Technical Committee.
In August 2016 she started teaching at Gharghur Karate Club, and as of November 2018 she is Club Director and Instructor of JKA Malta Kita Dojo presently at the Warrior’s Heart Academy in Mosta. In November 2017 she was appointed as Juniors Squad Coach for the Four Nations Competition where 6 students from her then club (Gharghur Karate Club) were selected to represent Malta. These past 4 years, under direction of Sensei Nicole, the junior squad has brought back home a total of 8 international medals. In October 2018 at the age of 21 years old, she became the Youngest Maltese Female to receive internationally recognized qualification licenses for JKA Instructor License D and JKA Judge License D.
She first started competing internationally at the age of 17 in 2014. She has been representing Malta in larger scale JKA WF Championships and other Open Karate Competitions ever since. Some of her achievements include placing 8th in Female Individual Kata Category (19-21 years old) at the JKA World Championships in Limerick, Ireland in August 2017. During the recent global pandemic, 2000 JKA Karate competitors from all around the world participated in an Online Kata World Championship, and Sensei Nicole Chircop placed 8th within the largest category (mixed gender, ages 22 to 39 years old), making her the 2nd best female in that same category.
Sensei Nicole Chircop is also the current Public Relations Officer (PRO) for JKA Malta.
